Oslo is the capital and the largest city of Norway with population of 658,390(2016). About 1.7 million people live in the Oslo Metropolitan Area. Oslo is the economic and governmental centre of Norway. It is an important centre for maritime industries and maritime trade in Europe. A survey conducted by ECA International in 2011 placed Oslo as the second most expensive city in the world for living expenses after Tokyo. The immigrant population in the city is more than 25% of the total.

- The Royal Palace. The building is in neo-classical style with a facade of stuccoed brick, and was completed in 1849.
- Akershus Fortress, a medieval castle constructed around the late 1290 to protect Oslo.
- Aker Brygge Wharf, an area along the inner harbour with restaurants, shopping, apartments and office buildings.
- Oslo City Hall, is the city's administrative body and the seat of the City Council.
- The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, invites its visitors to climb its roof and enjoy panoramic views of Oslo and the fjord, all year round.
- Old Aker Church, is Oslo's oldest remaining building and the only remaining church from the Middle Ages.
- Nobel Peace Center, a showcase for the Nobel Peace Prize and the ideals it represents.
