Cologne
Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city (after Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich) with more than 1 million residents and is located on both sides of the Rhine River.
Cologne is one of the nation's media, tourism and business hotspots and is known to be one of the most liberal cities in Germany.
Cologne was one of the most heavily bombed cities in Germany during World War II. The bombing reduced the population by 95% and destroyed almost the entire city. The reconstruction lasted until the 1990s.
