Africa

Africa is the world's second-largest and second-most-populous continent. At about 30.2 million km² (11.7 million sq mi), it covers 20.4 percent of Earth total land area. With 1.1 billion people as of 2013, it accounts for about 15% of the world's human population, and have 54 countries. Africa's population is the youngest among all the continents; 50% of Africans are 19 years old or younger.

Africa is widely accepted as the place of origin of humans and the great apes. Hominid fossils have been found in the Rift Valley area of Kenya, and it is widely believed that this area of Africa is where the human species originated from. The earliest Homo sapiens (modern human) were found in Ethiopia around 200,000 years ago.

Algeria is Africa's largest country by area, and Nigeria is the largest by population.

The tourism industry is a major sector of the economy for many African countries like Egypt, South Africa and Kenya.

Tourism in Egypt is based on the rich history of Ancient Egypt, pyramids and artifacts. South Africa and Kenya benefit from wild safari expeditions.
