for about 15% of the world's human population, and have 54 countries.
Africa's population is the youngest among all the continents; 50% of Africans are 19 years old or younger.
Africa is widely accepted as the place of origin of humans and the great apes. Hominid fossils have been found in the
Rift Valley area of Kenya, and it is widely believed that
this area of Africa is where the human species originated from. The earliest Homo sapiens
(modern human) were found in Ethiopia around 200,000 years ago.
Algeria is Africa's largest country by area, and Nigeria is the largest by population.
The tourism industry is a major sector of the economy for many African countries like Egypt,
South Africa and Kenya.
