Campania

South Italy starts with Campania, a region with Napoli as its capital. The region has a population of around 5.8 million people, making it the second-most-populous region of Italy. It is the most densely populated region in the country. Located on the Italian Peninsula, it includes the small Phlegraean Islands and Capri as part of the region.

Campania is rich in culture, especially in regards to gastronomy, music, architecture, archeological and ancient sites such as Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum and Velia. The rich natural sights of Campania make it highly important in the tourism industry, especially along the Amalfi Coast, Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri.

We recommend a basic tour plan as follows:

A 3 hours drive from Rome, Stay in Sorrento for at list 4 nights. From there travel for a day tour to Pompeii.

The next day, take a boat ride for a day tour in Capri. Visit the beautiful places in the island as recommended in the webpage.

After that, take a full day trip on the Amalfi Coast to Positano, Ravello, Amalfi and Salerno.
