Capri
Capri is an island in the off the Sorrentine Peninsula in the Campania region of Italy. The main town Capri on the island shares the name.
It has been a resort since the time of the Roman Republic.
The town of Capri is the island's main population center. The island has two harbors, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate commune of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west.
Main sights recommended are:
- In the town of Capri, visit the famous Piazza Umberto, (La Piazzetta) square and the the Clock Tower.
- Take a chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro and enjoy the beautiful view of the Faraglioni rock columns.
- Take a boat ride to the Blue Grotto and enjoy its beautiful brilliant blue and emerald light.
- Visit the Villa San Michele, in Anacapri. Enjoy the panoramic views of the town of Capri and its harbor, the Sorrentine Peninsula, and Mount Vesuvius.
