Volos, Makrinitsa and Portaria.

Volos is a coastal port city in Thessaly situated midway on about 326 km north of Athens and 215 km south of Thessaloniki.

Volos is the only outlet to the sea from Thessaly, the country's largest agricultural region. It is an important industrial center, while its port provides a bridge between Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Volos is the newest of the Greek port cities, with a large proportion of modern buildings erected following the catastrophic earthquakes of 1955.

On Mount Pelion, near Volos are small beautiful villages, Makrinitsa and Portaria which are recommended to visit.

We recommend you stay in Portaria for at list 1 night.

See more tourist information on Volos including sights, hotels, etc.
